What Is an EICR?

An Electrical Installation Condition Report (EICR) is a formal assessment of the fixed electrical installation inside a property — the wiring, consumer unit (fuse box), sockets, switches, earthing and bonding. A qualified electrician tests every circuit and grades any issues found using a standardised code system.

Is an EICR a Legal Requirement for Landlords in Peterborough?

Yes. The Electrical Safety Standards in the Private Rented Sector (England) Regulations 2020 made EICRs a legal requirement for all private landlords in England. Every rental property must have a valid EICR in place and landlords must provide a copy to tenants.
